Located just off Vela Luka, Proizd Island and the beaches on it are often said to be the “best beaches in Croatia”. While that may or may not be true, and is a purely subjective assessment, the fact remains that one should visit Proizd if opportunity ever presents itself. Just off Vela Luka, reachable by a boat ride that takes around half an hour, leaves near the gas station in Vela Luka and costs 60 kuna per person for a return ticket, the island is the pearl of Vela Luka. The beaches of the island, Srednji Bili Buk, Veli Bili Buk, Donji Bili Buk and Batalo are all amazing, and are aimed at different types of tourists.
The three “buks” are white amazing stone slabs, diving straight into the pristine sea. Srednji and Veli are the beaches you’ll most often see on the photos, and they attract most people. The third, Donji Bili Bok is the nude beach, so it’s best for everyone if you don’t go there in your clothes. Batalo, the shallowest bay of the island, is a paradise for families with children, as the sea is perfect there for their games, and there’s practically no danger for them there so you can just let them enjoy.
