The island of Badija is the largest of a total of 19 islets near the town of Korčula. In the summer months taxi-boats regularly set off from the taxi-boat quay in the town of Korčula (alongside the ACI Marina Korčula). Apart from the natural beauties, the long pebbly beaches on the southern coast and the attractive locations for diving in numerous coves, the island of Badija is also attractive due to the cultural-historical heritage of its Franciscan monastery. Nearby the quay is a restaurant which is open in the summer months, along with the possibility of renting sunshade and sun loungers as well as showers (coin-operated). The island (with a surface area of about 1 km²) is covered with dense macchia and a wood of pine, cypress and olive trees. Along with a tour of the monastery complex, we recommend a trip to the Church of St Catherine and the former hermitage of the hermit San Diego, as well as a tour around the island along the shoreline path which is 4 kilometres long. Badija is inhabited by fallow deer who looking for a tasty treat approach visitors calmly.
